We're proud to help support the important work of the Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase in our community.
We first met the showcase's founder, Angie Reza Tures in 2014 when she presented (and was awarded a grant for!) her film Memory Box at Fijol Feasts. She would eventually transform that film in to our region's only female-powered film tour, now known as the Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase. To be real, we don't take credit for the amazing work she and her team have done, we're just so proud of what a little funding can do when an artist has a big idea.
In that spirit, we're proud to make the Femme Frontera Feast a reality. Created specifically for female filmmakers from our region to make the quality films they want to make, this feast generates grassroots support for a female-identifying artist who intends to submit a film entry to Femme Frontera in that same year. The feast format is the same, with filmmakers presenting their ideas to the community over a home-cooked meal for a chance to win $1500-$2500!
Border stories matter. Women and their work matter. Artists matter.
